He said that “God is Dead”
Radical: Friedrich Wilhelm Nietzsche 1844 – 1900
Nietzsche is most known for his radical views on spirituality and morality. His existentialism and postmodernism philosophy was delivered in a distinct German Language style which often rejected Platonism, Christianity, and Egalitarianism. He was so bold to say “God is dead” in his notable work “The Gay Science”.
Nietzsche was known for his ideas on “Will to Power” which was a theory that human behavior is the result of an animalistic survival mechanism. The need for power is a survival method that is fed by insecurities. This belief fits well in the Darwinian mode of thought that we are all simple evolutions of a more primitive animal species.
Nietzsche’s Nihilism has also been revered by many modern elitists, artists, and writers. The Nihilistic philosophy that Nietzsche employed may be viewed simply as a result of his manic depression or is traumatic lifestyle which may have left him without purpose or direction. His documented poetry in the form of a philosophic study has intrigued many.
The fascination with Nietzsche is an apparent infatuation by those who simply wish to ignore the misery which comes as a result denying a spiritual necessity in life. The simple acceptance of self misery is evidence to the subservience to the actions or thoughts that produce this result. The influence of Nietzsche’s influence is not in those that operate as psychotic nihilistic members of this society living with no morals or ethics but in those that look to this as acceptable and even to encourage.
The corrosion of the morality in our society is evidence that Nietzsche’s psychosis was simply a warning. There were some that embraced the warning and there were some that embraced Nietzsche. In looking at Marxist theory, the theories of Nietzsche’s Nihilism fit well in the Marxist ideology and are no surprise since they sprung up from the same springs of German neo-feudalism.
What is important to note is that the teachings of Nietzsche are running rampant in our society. The destruction of morals and values is evidence of this. It has become culturally acceptable and recently a facet of pop-culture to be miserable and self loathing. Self mutilation, drug use, alcoholism, and sexual promiscuity can be directly related to the nihilistic notion that morality doesn’t exist and life is without objective meaning.
Where Nietzsche fits into the machine is an indirect parallel to the thoughts of Kant and Marx. Both of these cogs in the Machine along with Nietzsche plant the seed for justification for immoral actions. If you have no one to answer too then you can do what you wish. Their theories feed an imperfect society to look at its members for the source of true morality rather then the perfect vision of God. These theories are aligned with those who wish to destroy the self governed and make them dependent on the dictations of an authoritarian.
There is no wonder that Friedrich Nietzsche eventually withered under mental distress. One might say that it was the result of his twisted thoughts or one might say his twisted thoughts were a result of his mental distress.
